The lawful President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, is being forced to undergo a Nuremberg-style show trial, as the victors of the Battle of Baghdad make a pathetic attempt at presenting themselves as paragons of virtue. After decimating Iraq's population, looting the banks and museums, destroying the country's infrastructure, polluting the land with radioactive waste, and merciless interrogation, rape, torture and murder of defenceless prisoners for more than two-and-a-half years, the only charge they have been able to bring is that Saddam allegedly ordered the execution of 143 people in Dujail for treason. These people had apparently been implicated in a 1982 assassination attempt on Saddam in the town. George W Bush personally signed more than 150 death warrants during his tenure as Governor of Texas, and as President ordered the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan which resulted in over 100,000 deaths by 2004.
With the defence lawyer of one of Saddam's seven co-defendants killed by two bullets to the head, the trial will be barely more than a drawn-out kangaroo court.
Imagine if China and Japan illegally invaded the US without a UN Resolution, claiming that it was involved in terrorism (such as the Sarin attack on a Tokyo subway; it may have been innocent of that but let's pretend it is also uninvolved in events on the American continent and elsewhere for purposes of this thought experiment), that it had "WMDs" (we'll pretend it doesn't), and that terrible atrocities were being carried out within US-controlled territories (we'll pretend that is false). Suppose that after 30 months of "persuading" captives to talk they found noWMDs or even a weapons programme, no links to terrorism whatsover, and no mistreatment at Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay. The documental "proof" that Bush had tried to buy uranium from Niger was a deliberate forgery by China, the "mobile biological weapons labs" were trailers for inflating artillery weather balloons with hydrogen, the "anthrax factories" were producing nothing more sinister than powdered babies' milk, the "chemical weapons shells" just might have contained mustard gas but didn't, and the "dossier" on the US was a ten-year-old Russian child's homework essay from 1971.
Rather than offer compensation or a public apology for the "mistakes", the Japanese / Chinese-controlled puppet government then announces that George W Bush is to be tried for signing the death warrants of 154 convicts whilst he was the Texas governor.
Of course, the above scenario is inpossible. The US will not be invaded, because it does have chemical biological and nuclear weapons, is involved in terrorism, and treats its prisoners atrociously in contravention of the Geneva Convention.
